More projects finished: Scarf and another washcloth. :)

I finished the scarf I was working on. I knitted it with Lion Brand Homespun Yarn, in Mixed Berry on size 19 needles. It was a lot of fun to make and super quick! Here is a picture of it, modeled by yours truly! ;)

And here is a picture of the washcloth I made:

Washcloth

I finished the washcloth I was knitting, this morning. I started it yesterday, so it didn't take too long. I made it for my SIL (Thao's sister). Her birthday is tomorrow. It's part of a spa kit I put together for her. :) I've been knitting for several months now and this is only the second project I have completed (the first was a scarf for myself). Can't wait to give this to Van!

I can crochet!

My mom taught me how to do the single crochet stitch and I was able to put a border around the baby washcloths I made. Yay!! :D

Soon, I need to go to Joann's to buy another skein of the pink and purple baby yarn I bought so I can get started on a baby blanket using the round loom.

I spent $30 of my $50 April allowance today at Michael's (I was out shopping with my mom)! :/ It's so easy to spend a bunch of money at craft stores. I'm gonna return some stuff sometime this week.

Baby washcloths knitted with a small round loom

I made these two washcloths today. They each took an hour or less to make. I am very pleased. :)

I'm definitely going to make some for our family, as well.

Ack!

Okay, I am having trouble with the single crochet stitch. I might have to take a class to learn this. As of right now, knitting (with a needle) seems a lot easier than crocheting.

New looms and learning to crochet.

So, this morning, I tried knitting a baby washcloth on my small round loom, but I couldn't figure out how to cast on the stitches correctly. The directions told me to knit back and forth, but it was too confusing. So, I went out and bought a set of 5 looms. Included in the set is a large round loom, medium round loom, a flower loom, a small long loom, a hook, a needle and directions/patterns. It's by Knifty Knitter:

Tonight, after I feel satisfied with what I've done around the house, I am going to attempt to make a baby washcloth again.

Oh, I am also teaching myself to crochet, as of today. I've learned the chain stitch, so far, via You Tube. I also checked two "how to crochet" books out from the library. It seems easier than knitting, so far and I figured I should learn it since the loom knitting patterns use crocheting in the patterns.

Baby Wash Clothes

Here is my next project, using the small loom:

Baby Wash Clothes

Baby hat with a small round loom.

Last night, I decided that I wanted to try knitting with a loom because I heard that it was real simple and quick. So, today, I went out and bought a small round loom by Knifty Knitters. Here is what it looks like:

After the kids and I got home after school, I started working on a baby hat and two hours later, I was done! :) Here is the finished item:

Scarf

This is reserved to talk about the scarf I made, my first finished project.

When I first learned to knit.

Here are some pictures of me knitting when I first learned.

As you can see from the first picture, I was holding the needles wrong. I had my hands under the needles, when they should be over the needles. The teacher in my knitting class corrected me right away. It's easier when your hands are over the needles.

Knitting

I've decided to start this blog, so I can post pictures of my finished knitting projects and maybe some of my project ideas. I learned to knit about 2 months ago. I taught myself how to cast on and the knit stitch using You Tube and then I started taking classes at a yarn shop called. Yarn Lady. So far, the only project I've finished is a scarf. I will post pics of it soon.
